B of Briz is a masked rapper and producer in Bristol making cerebral, feminist, and just-plain-weird alt hip-hop.
"I’m so entirely delighted to be given this incredible honour, with Future Sound of Bristol, and to receive these amazing prizes from Audiotarky and Factory Studios." said B "I’m fully dancing around my living room, and hatching plans to make my first full-length album the weirdest and most wonderful feminist alternative hip hop album Bristol has ever seen!"
"I really hope this prize can help my music find more ears and hearts and minds."
"Being the Future Sound of Bristol warms my West Country heart, precisely because I know this is a journey I’m taking in a community of immensely creative and open people."
"It means such a lot to be honoured in this way by people working to support Bristol’s music scene, emerging artists and new music, and with a real passion for enriching Bristol’s cultural life, and I cannot wait for everyone to hear my album when it’s finished!"
Lorcáns music traverses the space between dream pop, ambient and indie rock. His songs are worlds of contrasts, with mellow baritone vocals against crunching drum machines and crisp ethereal synths twinkling over jangling vibrato guitar. Lorcán’s music captures the transience of lived experience, celebrating both the mundane and the dreamlike aspects of life.
"Wow don't feel I have the words to express how happy I am. I always have a natural leaning towards thinking that winning things like this is a bit beyond little old me - looks like I'm forced to change that mindset."
"Thanks so much to Audiotarky, Factory Studios and all the judges for believing in me and my music, and of course to all the lovely people who listened. There where so many amazing artists who applied to this, many of whom friends, so it is an honor to be among the winners this time around."
"This prize is going to make such a difference to my life and music. Can't wait to share what I do with it all."
